PETALING JAYA: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah said today that Her Majesty together with the King Queen, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah only have about 239 days before finishing their duties and leaving for home. Pahang
Nevertheless, His Majesty expressed his gratitude for being granted Taufik and guidance and the strength from God to carry out the significant mandate of protecting Malaysia for almost five years.
Al-Sultan Abdullah’s orders, advice, and the views of the Malay Kings have tried to help unravel the various crises that plagued the country during the five years of His Majesty’s reign.
The Agong said the spirit of consultation between the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers needs to be upheld and strengthened as the final check and balance mechanism on transparent national governance for the survival of the people.
“I also express an infinite sense of gratitude for the trust of His Majesty the Malay Monarchs in me,” His Majesty said in conjunction with the Official Birthday Celebration of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara today.
The decree of Al-Sultan Abdullah, the system of rotating the Yang di-Pertuan Agong between the nine Malay kings that have been practiced since the country’s independence, proves that power and position are not absolute.
Seri Paduka said the institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as the main head of the country is a pillar of unity that transcends race, nation, and religion in addition to the centralization and focus of undivided loyalty by the Federal Government, the Malaysian Armed Forces, and the people.
“It is a landmark that protects the Federal Constitution, becomes a source of justice, a pillar of stability, and a guardian to the practice of national democracy.
“The result is that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is like a torch that always shines on the country so that it does not slip from the mold of the Federal Constitution and the idealism of the country’s ideals and hopes for the future,” said Al-Sultan Abdullah.
Therefore, in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s Official Birthday, Al-Sultan Abdullah called on the people to instill commitment and determination to stay away from conflict, reject any form of racial sentiment and stay away from the seeds of religious polemics.
“The fact is that when people are at odds with each other, the country is full of shame and sin. In the end, the nation collapses and the country collapses,” stressed His Majesty. Utusan
